A Development Application (DA) is a formal application submitted to Council for permission to carry out a new development. This could be as simple as building a new pool and deck, tree removal, constructing a garage or carport in your home, or adding additional rooms to your existing home.
Do I need a Development Application?
If your building project doesn’t fall within the parameters of Exempt Development or Complying Development, you will need to lodge a Development Application with Council.
To obtain development consent, you will need to lodge a Development Application (DA) with Council via the NSW Planning Portal. If construction works are proposed as part of the development, you can apply for a Construction Certificate at the same time as your DA or once the DA has been approved.
